NEWSLETTER - FEBRUARY 2012
Hello and welcome to 2012, our 41st year as a band! We had a fantastic 40th year and I know many of you helped us celebrate at one or more or the events that were held. I am pleased to advise that many of our appearances are repeat bookings, a testament to the fact that people seem to be supporting live music once again.
We will be back at Sand Bay next year for those of you that enjoy dancing (or just listening) to the big band sound and are already looking forward to it. It is increasingly rare nowadays to find a venue with a large dance floor that is packed for every dance. It makes us all nostalgic for the old days!
We had another great night at the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge and have been promised a return visit there also. Our last gig of the year was our annual Christmas Extravaganga, and this was well supported. Our Christmas repertoire grows each year and we are already in the planning stages for this years event!
We return to Four Dwellings Community Centre in February for another trip down memory lane with our 40’s programme. Details on the right:
Our five piece jazz band appears at the Priory Club in Edgbaston in February also. Once again, details on the right:
Our next big theatre show is on March 25th at the Artrix Arts Complex in Bromsgrove. We have now appeared here several times and can recommend the venue. It is a first class location to see the band and we always play to an enthusiastic crowd. As you have probably guessed, details below!
We have several other gigs in the pipeline and will post them here as soon as we have firm details. Until then we hope to see you in the not too distant future.
A further reminder that the band now has a Facebook page. You can follow the link from the contact page of our website or just type in: Steve King Big Band. This is the “modern” way to keep in touch and over 200 of you have already joined the group. If you become a member of our group page, you will get updates as they are posted. This is also the main repository for photos of the band. All content is open, so you can also post your own comments and view photos on line as they are posted
Finally, a reminder we have produced a full colour pictorial book recording the first 40 years of the Steve King Big Band. For those of you who would like a copy of this unique souvenir, they are available at all our appearances or
post free from our office at just £29.99 each.
